Item upgrades are a key aspect of preparing your character. Upgrades boost the base damage and the enchantments of items.

They also offer rewards and upgrades. The Blacksmith can sell them to you.

The upgrade button is available on any item. Every item recycled adds a level to the gauge of upgrade.

Weapons

When an item is upgraded, it gains an initial damage bonus as well as an increase in the scaling factor that affects other stats. Some upgrade components have cosmetic effects and others provide additional features. These upgrades can be added to armors, weapons, trinkets and gathering tools. The majority of them require that the item has an upgrade slot and meets certain specifications. The upgrade component can be removed from the weapon, armor or trinket, but it is not replaced. (Except for legendary equipment). Upgrade components can be recovered by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool, or by using a high-tier salvage tool on the item the item.

In addition to the basic upgrades, a weapon may be upgraded by adding an attribute called Calibration that increases certain stats like Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. This can be done through the Gear Workbench's interaction menu. Based on the level of the weapon it can be done up to four times.

Once the weapon has reached its maximum level of upgrade, it can then be modified to give different bonuses and effects, or to improve specific stats. All of these upgrades can be applied at once, and their effects will depend on how rare the weapon is.

There are two Blacksmiths in the game that can perform these upgrades: Blacksmith Hewg in the Church of Elleh hub area as well as Smithing Master Iji on the Road to the Manor Site of Grace. Both upgrade materials are different: Smithing Stones to modify the kind of damage weapon does and Somber Smithing Stones to modify standard weapons.

In general, it is recommended to upgrade weapon damage first, followed by armour defense, then the other secondary stats that are required by your build. It is not unusual to see melee Druids upgrade their weapons before upgrading any other gear. This will increase DPS. This is especially applicable to enchantments, which can be very effective in boosting the weapon's damage and other stats.

Armor

Item Upgrades allow players to increase the stats of certain armors, weapons trinkets, trinkets, or gathering tools. These upgrades may also have additional effects such as increased damage or cosmetic enhancements. Item Upgrades can be obtained through crafting, buying from NPC vendors or loot drops, or as rewards for quests.

The armor can be upgraded by visiting the Armorer NPC, and spending the appropriate currency. In most cases the armor will be upgraded to the next level once an upgrade is applied. This can be done for any type of armor, but certain types of armor cannot be upgraded in any way (such as the armor that is used as a starter in Great Sky Island).

The majority of armor upgrades boost the strength or defense of an item by a small amount. However, some upgrade components can provide significant enhancements to defense or strength, particularly when upgrading an epic item.

In  upgrade item  to increasing the base defense of an item, certain upgrades also offer specific abilities that can be activated while wearing an armor. These abilities can be extremely useful in combat. For instance they can increase the speed of attack or block. Some upgrades have passive effects that can be beneficial for example, decreasing damage when wearing armor, or increasing the chance to dodge an attack.

Based on the type of armor, upgrading an item may require several tries. If a player wants to upgrade Steelclash armor to Dragonscale and the first attempt will result in a new Dragonscale armor that has the defense base ranging from 59 to 67. The second attempt would result in a Dragonscale armor with an initial defense range of 67-77.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lets players to upgrade their armor sets up to level 4. To do so it is necessary to visit each of the four locations known as Great Fairy Fountains in the game. Each of these locations holds a powerful fairy who can upgrade one piece of armor for the player.

Contrary to popular belief armor in The Division 2 is not in any way useless. Certain armors give a substantial increase in the ability to reduce damage from poison spells, curses, magic or fire. This makes them very useful for certain types of builds. There are other ways to increase the stats of armor beyond the use of upgradeable armor, such as the engineer trait to increase armor penetration or the challenger trait that reduces total weight.

Potion

A potion can be upgraded by putting it in the brewing stand to unlock new effects. The upgrade opens a new level of potion effect and can be repeated to unlock more tiers of potency.

The potion also gets a custom color code which the player can choose by using /give. This alters the area-of-effect clouds and arrows created by the potions. In Bedrock Edition the custom potion color also affects the particle effects of the potions.

The water bottle, the mundane, thick and awkward potions now have a brand new texture of brewing. In the Creative Inventory, potion healing and potion weakness have been added. The addition of lingering potions which can be brewed with Dragon breath or splash potions. Additionally, there is a thick potion that has the status effect of Mining Fatigue. Bug Tracker is the place to report any issues related to this patch.

Trinket

A trinket is an inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It can be a ring or necklace. Or even a small banner that marks the yard of a lateen boat. It could also be a reference to a gold-plated trinket on the mast of a vessel.

This bizarre trinket appears to be influencing the inhabitants of this maze which makes them more prevalent. The trinket, at present, makes all kinds of Xx of mimics more common and gives each floor a A% chance that it contains an ebony-colored replica. This trinket is priced at a moderate amount of energy to upgrade.

This enchanted Scepter's magic seems to alter the dungeon's environment and increase the likelihood of generating grass and water. At its current level this trinket makes X% of floors become filled with water or grass, but it doesn't affect enchantments, the glyphs, cursed weapons, armor, or items generated to aid in the elimination of hazards.

This item, which looks like a eyes of a nymph, seems to affect your vision in a manner that goes beyond simply narrowing your field of vision. At the moment, this trinket can increase the total health of the drinkers of healing, waterskins, and wells of health by X%. It also grants eyesight on enemies within Y tiles. This trinket cannot be combined with the Heightened Senses.

Skull Cavern is where you will find Trinkets after completing the Mastery Cave. You will find them when you defeat Monsters and in chests and crates. They are not found in the Mines or Volcano Dungeon.

Place the trinket in the Anvil when it needs to be upgraded. This will cause an unpredictable impact on the trinket either increasing its duration or strengthening its effects. You can reorge the Trinket as many times as you'd like but it will always have the same effect.

You can also enhance your Trinkets by placing them in a Magical Catalyst located at the Alchemy Station. It will cost you 6 energy and increase the trinket's power by just a little.
